Update 1:12
Lacombe Emergency Services have the situation “under control” at the scene of a gas leak at Gary Moe Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Lacombe.
The gas has been shut off and the leak has been dealt with.
The leak started after construction to the building led to a steel natural gas line being punctured.
Crews are still at the scene and Gary Moe workers have been sent home for the day.
No injuries were reported at the scene

Update: 12:30 a.m.
The gas leak along Highway 12 was the result of a line hit at a construction site and not a faulty line.
“We responded and you could hear the gas leaking, we confirmed with a gas tech device that gas was inside the building,” explained Lacombe Fire Department chief Ed van Delden.
“We cleared the building, isolated power to the building, closed off the area and now we’re waiting for the gas company to isolate the gas line.”
He said those on the construction site that hit the gas line followed proper procedures and safely got out of the area.
“Next step will be too isolate the gas line at a remote distance and shut the gas off,” added van Delden who said crews will remain on scene.
“It is leaking flammable gas, so until that gas leak is stopped there is always that risk of fire. People should avoid the area.”
There were no reported injuries.
Emergency personnel are asking the public to avoid the area.
