Santa is visiting Bentley, on Dec. 4 and he’s encouraging resident’s to help prepare for his arrival.
Residents and business owners in the town are invited to decorate their homes or businesses for inclusion on a community map which will be published by Bentley Community Services.
The deadline for residents and business to get their information in is Nov. 29, and registration can be done by contacting Barb Carson by email at firstname.lastname@example.org, or by telephone at 403-748-2160.
Alternatively, name, contact information, and address can be left with Merry Kuchle of Merry’s Mercantile, who has been coordinating the businesses on Main Street.
Residential entries will have three chances to win a random draw of prices, including a prize from @homeescaperooms for four people, a wreath, or a Snoopy blow-up yard ornament.
Businesses who participate will have a chance to have their names pulled in a random draw for free advertising in the community.
So far, around 20 residences have registered as participating the challenge, and according to Kuchle, most of the Main Street businesses will be participating.
The man in the red suit himself, Santa Claus, will be dropping into Bentley on Dec. 4 at the Main Street Park from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
While they are waiting to see Santa there will be music in the park, and hot chocolate available, and the first 100 kids to see him will get a gift bag.
Once the kids get to see Santa, they will have the opportunity to leave their letter with him, and he has promised to reply to everyone who leaves him one. Template letters can be found on the Town of Bentley website.
Bring your wallets to shop local for Christmas, as Main Street will have plenty of late-night shopping opportunities.
Horse drawn wagon rides will also be running throughout the evening.
Organizers note that any COVID-19 restrictions in place by the province at the time of the event will be enforced.
