RCMP recover body of 17-year-old drowning victim at Buffalo

Stettler RCMP reported just before 8 p.m. on Sept. 1 that the search for Ajay Purba had concluded.

Stettler RCMP reported just before 8 p.m. on Sept. 1 that the search for Ajay Purba had concluded.

RCMP media relations stated that the teams searching for Purba in Buffalo Lake had recovered the youth’s body.

Purba had been reported as a possible drowaning victim on Aug. 29, and teams have been scouring the lake search for the youth since.

Searchers have included STARS, the Central Alberta Diving Society, Red Deer County Search and Rescue, Alberta conservation officers, members from the StettlerRCMP detachment, RCMP Police Dog Services and the Stettler Regional Fire Department.

The RCMP media release noted condolences for the family.
