The Hultink family from Lacombe and Lacombe’s Cilantro and Chive location have come together to continue the mission of Tyler Hultink.

In April, 15-year-old, Hultink passed away after a 17-month battle with cancer. His family said that he was a generous teenager who at the time was collecting Lego for Child Life.

Over the past year and a half, the staff at the Lacombe restaurant grew to know the whole Hultink family well when they would stop in so their son could have chocolate milk and escape from the stresses of life.

“Our culinary team was invited to be a part of a fun morning for Ty, helping to fulfill a wish of his to ride a bike and enjoy chocolate milk. Of course, we couldn’t serve him up just regular chocolate milk, we had to load it up with his favourite treats, creating Ty’s Chocolate Milk Stack.”

On May 7, his family continued his mission by teaming up with Cilantro and Chive to create Ty’s Chocolate Milk Stack. For a week the chocolate milk stack was on the menu with all proceeds of sales going to Child Life to purchase Lego and toys.

Altogether $3,213 was donated to the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation for Child Life.

“When you combine a bright smile, a brave young man, and a supportive community, you put smiles into action for other young people facing challenging times.”
