Rick Kreklewich will be moving from the Abbey Centre over to Town Hall this week as he takes over the position of director of community services in Blackfalds.

“Mr. Kreklewich has been with community services for almost a decade and has vast experience in recreation, culture, and parks. He will be a great fit for leading and overseeing this department,” said Sean Barnes, the current director.

Kreklewich has been the Abbey Centre manager since its opening eight years ago and has been instrumental in the build and start-up and dedicated to the continued success of the centre.

“The past eight years as general manager and previous 11 years in Rimbey as a director, has certainly helped me understand what it takes to be an effective leader for our department. I have a passion for recreation and am proud with what the Town of Blackfalds has to offer and I look forward to the opportunity to improve our community going forward,” said Kreklewich.

“I have full confidence in Rick’s ability to lead the community services department, and the Town will continue to benefit from the leadership, knowledge, and dedication in service delivery to our residents,” said Myron Thompson, chief administrative officer.

Kreklewich will begin his new position on Feb. 14.
