It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Adam Schonheiter (96) after a brief illness in Lacombe Hospital. Adam was born in Primate, Saskatchewan to John and Magdalena Schonheiter.
Adam spent his early years farming with horses prior to moving to Lacombe, Alberta at the age of 16. After completing three years of military service that saw him stationed in England and Europe during WW2 Adam returned home to Lacombe and married his long-time sweetheart, Elsie Johnson of the Lincoln District.
Adam was predeceased by Elsie; his parents; his 7 sisters and 4 brothers. He will be lovingly remembered by his daughter Sharon (Lou) Hudon; sons Dennis and Dean (Colleen) as well as 7 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Adam was an avid baseball player (shortstop) in the Lacombe district for many years. He was an accomplished horseman/cattleman spending 15 years at the Lacombe Research Station cattle division.
After retirement from the Research Station Adam's love for growing things saw him spend a few years with Lacombe Nursery. He was an avid gardener and took great pleasure in his vegetable garden and flower beds. There was always an abundance of fresh vegetables he loved to share with his family and friends.
In keeping with Adam's wishes, he has been cremated.
A private family celebration of his life will take place this summer after which his ashes will be united with his true love's ashes at the Gull Lake Cemetery.
