Mom went home to be with her Lord and Saviour. Born in Tricht, Netherlands in 1928, 1 of 5 children of Case and Cornelia Wierks. Mom lived during WW2 when the Netherlands was occupied. Their home was occupied by a German soldier who became a family friend. In 1949 Rena married Huibert De Ruiter. They lived in Buurmalsen NLD and were blessed with 1 daughter and 2 sons. In 1956 they emigrated to Canada and settled in the Chilliwack B.C. area. There, they were blessed with 3 more daughters and 1 son. They moved to Enderby in 1970 and dairy farmed there until 1978. At that time, they moved to Salmon Arm where they were semi-retired. Her husband passed away in 1983 in a farming accident. Mom stayed in the area until she moved to Abbotsford in 2001 to be closer to a couple of her daughters. She made the move to Lacombe in 2005. The last few she lived in Long Term Care in Rimbey.
Rena is survived by Arta (Tom) Stoker, Cori (Ron) Van Nes, Herb (Aida) De Ruiter, Mary (Rob) Bajema, Diane (Calvin) Vaandrager, daughters-in-law Corrine De Ruiter, and Brenda De Ruiter. Mom has 30 grandchildren and 55 great grandchildren.
Mom was predeceased by her husband Huibert in 1983, sons, Case in 2009 and Sam in 2002. Her parents, 2 sisters and 1 brother.
