June 20, 1932 - June 27, 2021
Mr. Herman Woltjer of Lacombe, Alberta was called home by his Lord and Savior on  a beautiful Sunday morning June 27, 2021 at the age of 89 years.
Herman was born June 20, 1932 to Andries and Antonia Woltjer in Enschede, The Netherlands.
He was the fourth child of nine. His father was an architect so Herman grew up in the city.
During WWII when food was scarce, Herman found work on a local farm where his love of farming began.
When he was 18 years of age, Herman's father said "If you really want to be a farmer, then Canada is the place to go." So, Herman crossed the ocean to a whole new life. He started out working for a farmer in Ontario and then soon headed west to Alberta. He met the love of his life, Mini, at the PTS (Provincial Training School) where they were both employed.
After a short courtship they were married in 1957.
They purchased their first farm in 1958. They were able to move to this property in 1959 and their farming career began in earnest.
Their mixed farm soon morphed into a full-fledged dairy. In May of 1973, Herman and Mini moved to Lacombe where they were able to expand their dairy farm, send their children to a Christian school, maintain their membership in a Reformed church and take part in community life in the Lakeside District of Lacombe County.
After retiring from dairy farming Herman focused on what became his second passion -spending countless hours recycling to raise funds for mission work.
Specifically, Bibles for Missions and Hope:Effect - Leprosy Mission.
He was a faithful provider and an industrious worker. A man with a goofy sense of humour. The joy of the Lord that was in Herman's heart was often revealed in his singing in the dairy or his whistling a mighty tune.
Herman was predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Mini in 2017, his parents Andries and Antonia, parents-in-law Dirk and Hendrika Simmelink, brother Jurjen Woltjer, sister Corrie van de Vegt-Woltjer, in-laws Wim Nijhuis, Jan Hogenbirk, Koos Visser, Jan (Johanna) Simmelink, Henk (Jo) Simmelink, Ben (Betty) Simmelink, Bill Simmelink, his son Roy Woltjer and his great-grandson Nathaniel Wildeboer.
Herman will be lovingly remembered by his children Andy (Edna), Annette (Murray) Wiersma, Herb (Debi), and Jeanne (Marvin) Ebens, grandchildren Angela (Steve) Wildeboer, Sarah Woltjer, Amanda (Jordan) Rein, Mitchell (Amanda) Woltjer, Ben Woltjer,  Carmen (Steve) McKerrow, Lindsay Wiersma, Amber (Johnathon) Nagel, Stuart (Kelsie) Wiersma, Meryl (Dave) McPherson, Erin (Troy) DeHaan, Brandon Woltjer, Travis (Brooke) Ebens, Kayleen (Jesse) Sandin, Alana (Justin) Babcock,  Russell Ebens, Leah Ebens, Payton Ebens, 35 great-grandchildren and 3 unborn great-grandchildren.
