Kathleen "Tenny" Shirley Corkery passed away peacefully surrounded by her family in Lacombe on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at the age of 94 years.
Tenny was born in Galahad, Alberta to George and Nora Nichol on November 15, 1930. She went to high School in Sedgewick and began working for the Alberta Treasury Branch in Edmonton and then moved back to Killam where she worked at Lackie's Drug Store.
Tenny enjoyed playing bridge with many friends over the years. Brunch out with the girls was also a highlight, as were many travel adventures she went on. Tenny toured Switzerland, Italy, China, Hawaii and many other exotic locations with the love of her life, Leonard.
Tenny met Len while acting together in a play in Killam. They were married on September 11, 1954, in Edmonton and spent many joyous years together.
Tenny was predeceased by her loving husband, Leonard, her sisters Helen Bailey and Doreen Madill; her brothers Jim Nichol and Raymond Nichol as well as her parents George and Nora Nichol; her nephews, Bob Bailey, Gene Bailey and her brother-in-law, Raymond Corkery.
She is survived by her nephews, Jim (Trudy) Bailey of Lacombe, Grant (Debbie) Bailey of Camrose, Ron Bailey of Wetaskiwin, Brian Bailey of Toronto. Tenny is also survived by her brother and sisters-in-law, Bryan (Sylvia) Corkery of Ponoka, Ardath Corkery of Dawson Creek, Marion (Hugh) Savage & family; nieces Sharon Nichol Hassler, Linda Nichol - Sandl, nephew Gary Nichol (Laurel Wallace), niece Lynn (Ross) Algar, nephew Ken Holmes and as well as numerous nieces and nephews; special cousins Mona Morrison and Jean Sibley along with many great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends as well as special great nieces, Lisa Bailey and Paige Bailey, special friend and caregiver, Angela Abbatino, who made such a difference in Tenny's last year.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Stephen Catholic Church, 5128 - 53 Street, Lacombe, Alberta on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. with Interment to follow in the Fairview Cemetery.
