December 19, 2021
It is with great sadness the family of Leo Koss announce his passing at the Lacombe Hospital on Sunday, December 19, 2021 at the age of 94 years.
Leo is survived by his six children, Diane, Eldon (Joan), Bruce (Lorraine), Brenda (Murray), Carol (Hank) and Louise (John); many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; as well as extended family and dear friends.
Leo was predeceased by his wife, Jean in 2020; daughter, Beverly; grandsons, Shawn and Clinton; and son-in-law, Darryl.
After his parents immigrated from Poland, Leo was born in Coleman, Alberta, along with his brother, Alec, and sisters, Jean and Mary. The family later purchased a farm in the Rimbey area, and in Grade 8, Leo left school as his help was needed on the farm.
He married Jean Wilson on April 6, 1951 and they went on to have seven children. Leo worked as an auto body mechanic in Lacombe AB, Terrace BC, and St. Paul AB.
Leo had many passions. In his younger years, he enjoyed baseball and dances at Lincoln Hall. Later, he became club president of the Curling Club in 1964. He also loved fishing and would go often.
In 1973, Leo and Jean purchased a section of land in St. Paul, AB, where the family would have Sunday gatherings every weekend. In 2015, Leo had a yearning to return to his roots and moved into the Lacombe Lodge. He was very content at the Lodge, but the need for more care had him move to Royal Oak in November 2021.
A special Thank You to Dr. Keller, who treated Dad with great dignity and respect.
A Private Family Graveside Service will take place at Fairview Cemetery in Lacombe, AB. A Public Memorial will be held in the Spring of 2022.
In memory of Leo, donations may be directed to the Canadian Cancer Society - an organization special to Mom and Dad since the loss of their daughter, Beverly, to cancer.
