August 9, 1917 - December 16, 2018
Our mother, Maggie Stone, at 101 years old, passed away peacefully after a very brief illness and while residing at the Royal Oaks in Lacombe.

She is predeceased by her dear husband David Stone, her daughter Rosalie Szuch, and her grandson Alan Letts.

She will be greatly missed by her children Betty Cruickshank (Robert), Norman Stone, Harriet Stone and son-in-law Chuck Szuch (Jan) as well as grandchildren David Ree, Kevin Ree (Shelly), Laura Woycenko (Rick),  Melanie Donegan (David), Philip Szuch (Lorrie), Michael Szuch (Kim), Greg Szuch, Robin Szuch (Andy), Gilbert Letts, Heather Hecnar, Stephanie Stone (Dallas), Krista Park, and twenty great grandchildren; by her sister Rosemary Paetz, sister in law Kay Roth; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Maggie, was one of thirteen children, was born in Foremost, Alberta to Bernard and Helen Roth. The family moved to the Haynes area where she met the dashing David Stone. They married and raised their family on the farm near Alix. After dad retired, they moved into Alix and then mother eventually moved into Lacombe. She had an active life as a farm woman and mother and as a busy community member. Many people enjoyed her friendship and quiet acts of charity and support. She and dad frequently travelled in the motor home to camping and fishing sites in the foothills. They enjoyed trips to the US including Hawaii and several to Nevada. Her Catholic faith was very important to her and she appreciated the church ladies who delivered communion. The family is grateful for the care and kindness shown by the staff at Royal Oaks and the staff at the Lacombe Lodge.

Cremation has taken place. On Friday, January 4, 2019 at 11:00 am there will be a small ceremony at the Stone Fairview Cemetery near Alix.
