With sorrow we announce the passing of Orlean Lesher, 78, on December 22, 2020 with family by her side.
Orlean spent all of her life in Central Alberta. She was a devoted farm wife, mother, daughter, sister, auntie, grandma and great grandma. She took great pride in providing a healthy and happy home for her family and enjoyed entertaining and participating in many activities with family and friends.
Orlean had an amazing work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit. She was gifted gardener and seamstress and skilled creator of clothing, jewelry, birdhouses and various other projects. She was one of the original recyclers and DIY masters creating beautiful pieces from almost nothing.
Orlean had a special place in her heart for seniors and was very passionate and proud of her work as assistant manager at the Lacombe Senior Lodge. She had the ability to bring joy and a smile to even the most somber residents while supporting her coworkers.
Orlean was predeceased by her parents, Roland and Alberta Liebing, sisters Evonne Weitzel and Joyce Potter, half-sisters Leila Batke and Irene Page, brother in law Floyd Weitzel and sister-in-law Sharon Liebing.
She is lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her brother Avery Liebing, children, Shelley (Rick) Spangler, Penny (Dave) Robbins and Nick (Carol) Lesher, grandchildren Tanis (Tyson) Reid, Ashleigh (Robbie) Gilliland, Hannah (Wes) Verhoef, Aaron (Myah) Lesher and Chad Robbins, eleven great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, brother and sister-in-laws.
At the time of her passing, Orlean resided at Michener Hill Extendicare in Red Deer. Her and her family were extremely grateful for the caring and competent staff at Michener Hill who provided a safe and loving home for her during and despite a time of many restrictions and precautions due to the pandemic. The family wishes to thank the staff for their amazing, compassionate care throughout her time there.
At Orlean's request there will be no service and cremation has taken place. She will be laid to rest at Fairview Cemetery in Lacombe.
Donations in Orlean's memory gratefully accepted by the Lacombe Foundation at 4622 C & E trail, Lacombe, AB, T4L 1M9.
