Surrounded by his loving family, Richard William Kodak of Lacombe, Alberta passed away peacefully at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on Sunday, August 15, 2021 at the age of 74 years.
Rick was born on May 1, 1947 in Lacombe. In the spring of 1981, Rick and Barbara (Krick) were united in marriage. Shortly after, they moved to the family farm where they raised their children, and have continued to reside ever since.
Richard took pride in his work, both on and off the farm, having retired from Alberta Transportation and Utilities in 1996. He had many hobbies: farming, tractor shows, playing cards, and visiting with family and friends.
Summers were often spent traveling around Alberta to the various tractor shows - Irricana being one of his favourites. Rick had a love of the land, and passed down his appreciation of nature to his family. Walking down to the farmyard wearing his favourite hat, Rick would wave to the neighbours driving by as he checked on the cattle and crops with his dogs at his side. The farm was Rick's happy place.
Rick will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 40 years, Barbara; his four children: Nancy (David) Bingham, Robert (Paige) Kodak, John (Gina) Kodak, and Karen (Kaulin) Sincennes; as well as two special grandchildren, Amelia and Hayden.
He will also be lovingly remembered by his twin sister, Beatrice (Arnold) Bartko; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Richard was predeceased by his father, Frank Kodak in 1984; his mother, Elizabeth (nee Traudt) Kodak in 2002; brother, David Kodak in 1961; and brother-in-law, Frank Bartko in 2007.
A Private Family Service was held on Saturday, August 21, 2021. In loving memory of Richard, the family will be planting a tree at the family farm to honour his love of the land.
