May 24, 1937 - December 21, 2022
Ron Giles passed away December 21, 2022, in Ponoka at the age of 85. He was predeceased by his wife Lorna Giles (nee Cook), two brothers Robert and Norman, his sister Barbara and his daughter Denise. He will be lovingly missed by his son Mike, his daughter Terri-Sue Larsen, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, extended family and many friends and acquaintances.
Ron was born in Calgary at the General Hospital and was the second oldest son of Grace and Earl Giles. The family farmed in the Strathmore area until 1940 and then moved to Tees area to start again on different land.
Ron attended school in Tees then Mirror and completed an Agriculture Mechanics diploma at SAIT in 1956. He went straight to work with an oil exploration company and travelled through Alberta and Saskatchewan. The work was hard and dangerous, driving a caterpillar and blazing trail through the forest with the seismic trucks following, pulling their cook shacks and bunkhouses returning home to help on the farm between jobs.
He bought a farm of his own in 1960 in the Clive area and settled into the job he loved most. Working on the land and supporting his family, his community, and his friends. He was conscientious he loved to socialize and helped everyone who asked and anyone that he knew needed the help. He supported the Lions club and was an auxiliary member of the legion and worked with his brother Robert to build and support the Tees AG society.
Gone yet not forgotten,
