October 16, 1932 - May 7, 2022
It is with a heavy heart that we share with you the news of our beloved 'Bill's' passing on Saturday, May 7, 2022.
Bill, was brought into this world by John and Emily on October 16, 1932 in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba. His family later relocated to Red Deer, Alberta where Bill finished high school and then went on to earn two degrees, one of them to become a teacher. He then taught school in rural locations throughout Alberta and Manitoba for most of his teaching career. Bill's real passion in life was entertaining though, and he was quite the performer. He always had a joke, a song or a little poem to share with anyone who would take a minute to listen. Friends were so very important to him and many of them he stayed in touch with for over 65 years! Bill enjoyed going out for meals, playing cards, going to Writers Group, bowling and singing karaoke with his friends. He became a big part of the
Community in Lacombe where he lived, and it became impossible to take him anywhere without someone knowing him from somewhere! Everyone knew him as the cute quirky old man in town who liked to dance and tell a few jokes! His presence will be missed among many small businesses he would frequent, community events such as 'Music in the Park', his friends, family, caregivers and cats, Gracie and Hope.
Bill was predeceased by his wife of almost 25 years, Eleanor Clark; his parents and numerous friends. He is survived by his stepchildren, Jen and Tony; granddaughters Sarah and Camille; and his cats.
His family would like to thank everyone who helped enrich Bill's life here in the Community of Lacombe, especially those that helped him live to the end in his own home. To the Doctors and Nurses at the Lacombe Hospital, Homecare, FCSS, his caregiver Gita, the Pharmacist, Neighbours and many of his friends that helped us take care of Bill, we extend our heartfelt thanks. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Bill's name to the local food bank in Lacombe, or the SPCA.
A celebration of his life will take place at a later date. Details will be announced on this website.
