Times are incredibly tough right now.
Many of our friends, family and community members are losing their livelihoods, businesses are being forced to close and humanity is forced to reckon with an invisible enemy that feels completely out of our control.
People are scared and anxious and fake news is everywhere preying on that fear and anxiety. The delivery of factual, truthful and helpful information from a trusted source is now incredibly important.
At a time when more people than ever before are reading the Lacombe Express paper and website, we are facing the biggest challenges in our history. Our revenue model, which is based on local business advertising, has been shaken to its core due to businesses being forced to close.
We are doing everything we can to continue to provide the highest quality of local news, but without a revenue base, we will have difficulty surviving as the only local newspaper in Lacombe and area.
We understand the pain of losing a business and that is why we are reaching out to you, our readers, to help fill the gap while the economy and our business community recovers.
To ensure the Lacombe Express continues to tell Lacombe’s stories, we are asking our readers to support local journalism by making a donation to the Lacombe Express.
Readers who value our contribution to the health and wellbeing of Lacombe can make a one-time or monthly donation here.
It has been my honour to serve the community of Lacombe and I want to continue to report all the news, big and small, that makes Lacombe the special place it is to live and work.
We live in beautiful part of the world and despite our challenges, the pandemic has shown that central Albertans show compassion and love when faced with adversity.
If you would like to continue to read the stories of your neighbours and friends, please consider making a donation here.
We want to continue to be in this fight alongside you providing the information you need to make the right choices in a pivotal moment of human history.
