A day-long celebration of female hockey comes to Red Deer on Saturday, Dec. 15th as Hockey Alberta hosts its inaugural Female Hockey Day at the Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre.

The day will feature on and off-ice development sessions for players, coaches, and officials – all to celebrate female hockey. All ages and skill levels are welcome to join. To help celebrate, and to conclude a full day of Female Hockey Day activities, the Calgary Inferno will host the Toronto Furies in a Canadian Women’s Hockey League game.

“We’re incredibly excited to showcase everything female hockey has to offer on Saturday,” said Kendall Newell, Hockey Alberta’s manager, Female Hockey.

“It’s one of the fastest growing sports in the province, and we’re hoping to attract more females to the sport, in any capacity.”

The CWHL game is a historic one, as it’s the first time the league has played in Red Deer.

“The game between the Inferno and Furies is a great way to cap off Female Hockey Day,” said Newell. “We’re expecting plenty of young, aspiring female hockey players in the stands, so this a great opportunity for them to see how far the game can take them.”

Tickets for the CWHL game will be available at the door, or can be purchased online at https://rdctickets.universitytickets.com.

Tickets are $17.25 each, and can be purchased for groups or teams at a reduced rate.
