Blackfalds Bulldog’s acquire new player

The team will search for their second consecutive victory Jan. 12

The Blackfalds Bulldogs will search for their second consecutive victory Jan. 12, at home when they host the Brooks Bandits.

The team is coming off a 4-1 win Saturday on home ice over the Calgary Canucks and are sixth in the AJHL South with their 15-23-1 record.

The Blackfalds Bulldogs have also acquired 2003-born forward Kobe Assam from the Alberni Valley Bulldogs (BCHL) in exchange for future considerations.

“Kobe is a strong power forward with good speed,” said Blackfalds Bulldogs Assistant GM Adam West. “We are excited to add a player with his size and skill level that he showed in the CSSHL U18 Prep league as a 16-year-old.”

The Kelowna, B.C. product has recorded four points and 32 penalty minutes in 20 games with Alberni Valley this season.

Prior to his time in the BCHL, Assam played for the Okanagan HA Red U18 Prep team during the 2019-20 season. In 33 games, he registered 35 points.

It’s expected Assam will make his debut with Blackfalds this week.

Following Wednesday’s game, the Bulldogs host Spruce Grove Jan. 14 and Fort McMurray Jan. 15.
