Lacombe Pro Bull Riding is back on July 30th after a two year pandemic related hiatus.

The PBR sanctioned event will take place at the Lacombe Ag Grounds.

“We have over 20 of the best bull riders in the country coming,” said president of the Lacombe Pro Bull Riding Association Colleen Shippelt.

Local bull rider Ashton Sahli will be among those competing.

Gates open at 5 p.m., with the event starting at 7 p.m. There will be a family-friendly cabaret to follow.

“You don’t have to make the little kids go away if you want to stay,” said Shippelt with a laugh.

The cabaret will feature Kixxsin and Cole Malone as entertainment throughout the night.

Food trucks will be onsite, along with dog shows in the ring before the bulls buck.

“It’s going to be a good event,” said Shippelt.

The first event took place in 2019 in the Gary Moe Auto Group Sportsplex.

“We had planned on going back to the arena, but then the Lacombe Agriculture Society approached us and said they would build us a permanent spot if we would come and join forces with them,” Shippelt said.

The Society will be building an area for the bulls to buck on.

“Hopefully it will be a long term relationship and we’ll do this every year and build upon it,” she continued.

Tickets can be purchased online at lacombeprobullriding.com or by visiting Pro Liquor or The Cooperators Insurance in Lacombe.
