The Stettler Wildcats undefeated streak continues.

In the team’s second-last game of the regular season, the Wildcats faced off against the Lacombe Rams on Oct. 7 at the ME Global Field on the Rams home-turf.

The win was bitter-sweet, with the game dedicated to teammate, team captain and friend Zach McCord who took his own life on Oct. 5.

The team wore the number 21 on their helmets and held 21 seconds of silence before the game in honour of McCord.

“The Wildcats played hard dedicating the game to Zach,” said team manager Erin Sparks.

Coming out hard, the Wildcats were the first to score in the first half. Defending the lead, the Wildcats came out on top “despite a strong fight from the Lacombe Rams,” according to Sparks.

The final score was a tightly contested 28 to 7 for Stettler.

Stettler’s final regular game of the season, and final home game, will take place Oct. 13 under the lights with a 7:30 p.m. kickoff.
