Town Council, Administration, and the Brand Development Committee (BDC) invite public participation in defining the new Blackfalds brand. Mayor Richard Poole wants everyone in the community to “help shape the future direction of Blackfalds”.

Participants are asked to ‘open their minds’ and look 25-50 years down the road to envision what the ideal Blackfalds will look like and be known for. What would make the community better than ever?

A variety of public engagement opportunities will be available for residents, businesses, municipal stakeholders and community organizations to provide their input. An online survey to help define the new brand will run from March 2 until at noon on March 23, 2020. Attendees at the Red Deer Home Show on March 6-8, 2020 are welcome to sit down at the Town booth to discuss branding and the other exciting projects that are commencing this year. Open Houses where the public can learn more about community branding and provide their input on the desired future brand for Blackfalds will be held at After the Grind (4911 Broadway Ave, Blackfalds) from 1:00 – 3:00 pm on Saturday, March 14 and from 6:30 – 8:30 pm on Thursday, March 19.

BDC chair Heather Buelow is looking forward to hearing the ideas and having a vision for Blackfalds’ future start to form. “I love hearing from the community what Blackfalds means to them. I absolutely love this community and am so proud to be a part of it as a business owner for the past 17 years and as a resident for the past 15 years.” Buelow adds, “We have about 250 dancers plus their families that pass through Dancer’s Edge in Blackfalds every week. With the opening of our new venture Aerial Edge Studio we are meeting and getting to know even more people from our community.”

The public input will be used to shape possible brand directions for the community, which will form the basis for the new brand’s visual identity. The more input received, the more complete the picture of the desired future for the community will be. A Request for Proposal for the visual design components will be issued in April, 2020.
