Gull Lake: Centrally located, hugely popular, sandy beaches

There are multiple campgrounds on the lake’s shores

No visit to Ponoka or Lacombe would be complete without a visit to Gull Lake, a super popular recreation area with large sandy beaches on its southern shores.

The large, central Alberta lake, lies in both Ponoka and Lacombe counties.

There are multiple campgrounds on the shores of the lake including Aspen Beach Brewers and Lakeview Provincial Park, Raymond Shores, and Degraffs Resort.

Lakeview Provincial park has open, pull-through RV sites that are great for large trailers and RVs. The park also has a sani-dump station. Visitors must reserve ahead of time.

As for fishing, walleye, northern pike, whitefish and burbot are in the lake.

(NOTE: Alberta’s provincial parks were open to visitors as of May 1, 2020. However, you should check this website for current access as you plan your next trip.)
